What is a dye test?
A dye test helps check a suspected leak in a pool or spa. With the water still, we release a small amount of leak detection dye near a crack, fitting or other submerged area. If water is escaping there, the dye may be drawn toward the opening.
Where we test
We check suspected cracks and areas around skimmers, lights, drains, returns and other submerged fittings.
What happens next?
Dye testing helps identify leaks at visible openings. If the suspected leak is in a plumbing line, a pool or spa pressure test may also be needed before planning the repair.
